Back pain is a common problem seen mostly amongst middle-aged and elderly people. In few cases, youngsters also suffer with back pain. Back pain commonly occurs due to muscle tension, improper diet and lack of physical activity. Back pain is one of the common symptoms seen in patients suffering arthritis.

The common symptoms associated with back pain are pain in your back or around the hips, reduced flexibility of spine and difficulty in sleeping. Back pain also increases during pregnancy in women. Back pain generally makes it difficult for you to carry out day-to-day activities.

Natural Cures for Back Pain

The common natural remedies to cure back pain include the following:

  1. Ginger

Ginger is an ancient natural cure for back pain. Ginger is an effective remedy used to cure different diseases like diarrhea.  Ginger is known to contain certain anti-inflammatory compounds that can provide relief from back pain.

You can apply ginger paste directly on the affected area, followed by eucalyptus oil.  Take fresh ginger root and cut 4-6 thin slices of it and put it in one cup of water. Simmer and boil this mixture for 10-15 minutes on low heat.

Allow this mixture to cool at room temperature. Strain the mixture and add honey to it for taste and drink it 2-3 times a day for better results.  You can also prepare an herbal tea by adding black pepper corns with one teaspoon of cloves and one teaspoon of ginger powder to cure back pain naturally.

  1. Basil leaves

Basil leaves commonly called as tulsi is an ancient remedy that is used to cure back pain. Take 8-10 leaves of basil leaves and add it to one cup of water and boil it until the quantity is reduced to half. Let the mixture cool to room temperature and add a pinch of salt to it.

In case of mild back pain, you can drink this concoction once daily and for severe pain, you can increase the quantity to 2-3 cups on a daily basis.

  1. Poppy seeds

Poppy seeds are an effectual natural cure for back pain.  Take equal amounts of poppy seeds and rocky candy and grind it to form a fine powdery mixture. Eat 2-3 teaspoons of this mixture twice daily with a glass of milk to cure back pain.

  1. Herbal Oil

You can use herbal oil as an essential cure for back pain. Make use of this herbal oil for massaging your back as it helps in relaxing your muscles and relieving pain. Herbal oils such as eucalyptus oil, almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil can be used for back pain cure. Heat the oil until warm and massage your backs gently to cure back pain naturally.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is one of the effective cures for back pain. You can eat 2-3 cloves of garlic every morning on an empty stomach that can help in curing back pain. You can also extract garlic oil and massage your back for better results.

To prepare garlic oil, take a little amount of coconut oil, mustard oil and sesame oil and heat it on a low flame and add 8-10 cloves of garlic to it. Fry garlic until it is brown and strain the oil. Let it cool at room temperature and massage on your back gently. Leave it on your back for some time and take warm water bath for quick relief.

  1. Wheat

Wheat contains certain compounds that have analgesic properties which help in curing back pain naturally. Take handful of wheat and soak it in water overnight. In the morning, mix this wheat in cuscus grass powder and coriander. To this mixture add one cup of milk and boil it for few minutes until it forms a thick paste.  Drink this mixture twice daily as a nature cure for back pain.

  1. Heat therapy

Heat therapy is an essential remedy to cure back pain. Take heating pads or hot packs and keep it on your back 15-20 minutes for back pain cure. Hot shower also helps in curing back pain. You can also add Epsom salt to the hot water tub as a natural cure for back pain as it stimulate the blood flow towards the affected areas. It also helps in slowing down the nerve impulses and reduces pain.

If you are pregnant, you must avoid the hot bath as it may lead to miscarriage if your body temperature remains more than 100 F for a longer period of time.

Cold therapy is an effectual cure for back pain. Applying ice cubes also helps in speeding up the healing process. Take a clean plastic bag and wrap few ice cubes in it and put it on your lower back. Cold therapy generally acts as anesthetic and provides your quick relief from back pain.

  1. Potato

Take few raw potatoes and grate it and wrap it in a thin cloth. You can use it as a poultice on your lower back and keep it for one hour for back pain cure.

  1. Cabbage leaves

Take cabbage leaves boil it in milk until a jelly like paste is formed. Drape this paste in a clean cloth and apply it on your back. Cabbage leaves is one of the essential natural cures for back pain.

  1. Lemon Juice

Take lemon juice extract and add some salt to it and stir well. Drink this mixture on a daily basis to cure back pain naturally. Lemon is the considered as a common cure for back pain.

  1. Milk

The natural rich source of calcium is milk which strengthens your bones and helps in reducing the risk of back pain. Take a tablespoon of honey and add in warm milk or warm water. Mix it well and drink it frequently to cure back pain.

  1. Capsaicin cream

Regular physical activities like stretching exercises helps in curing back pain naturally. Try to lie down on your back with hands away from your body. Keep your feet together and concentrate on your lumbar region and take a deep breath. At the same time, turn your feet on the right side and turn your heads to the left simultaneously. Take a deep breath and hold on the same posture for few minutes.

Resume back to the initial position and do the same way on the other side of your body. Do this exercise for 10 minutes on each side of your body.  Apart from stretches, you can also perform partial crunches, wall sits and hamstring stretches for back pain cure.

Swimming is also considered as one of the best exercise to cure back pain naturally. Swimming mainly fortifies your back muscles and abdominal muscles and makes them susceptible to strain.

  1. Chamomile tea

Chamomile tea is essential to cure muscle stiffness that may cause severe back pain. Chamomile is considered as a great stress-buster that helps in soothing your tensed muscles. To prepare this tea, take one cup of boiling water and one tablespoon of chamomile flowers and steep it for 10-15 minutes. Drink this tea 2-3 times a day to naturally cure back pain.
