Coronavirus or COVID – 19 was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. And while the world is grappling with imminent dangers that this virus poses to humanity, there are few critical measures that individuals can take to fight this pandemic.

There are ways for your immune system to function if you choose healthy eating habits, there are foods which make you sick & we need to avoid them.  Fill your plate with immune-boosting nutrients.  The best way to stay healthy is to eat a nutritious meal.

  • Foods & drinks high in sugar
  • Refined carbohydrates

Processed food leads to the growth of bacteria and yeast. Due to consumption, processed food immune function is compromised & we do not bale to fight back infections.

When we eat too much salt, sugar, and fats, the immune system activates the inflammation, so our cells and tissues are not protected. We continue to put more and more salt, sugar, and fat in our body so the immune cells start to overreact and inflammation starts in our body.

So when the entire immune system is affected, how will it function & get the resistance to fight back. We need to heal our gut & immune system(1) to function well. Eliminate from your diet high amounts of salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Replace it with healthy options like:

1. Vitamin C

2. Zinc

zinc is essential for the immune system function. Zinc is required from the cell development & inflammatory response. Zinc can be found in wheat germ, fortified breakfast cereal, beef, poultry, pork, lamb,& seafood.

3. Vitamin D

As said its best to get your vitamins from food, vitamin D is an exception. For some people, it is hard to absorb vitamin D from food; it’s advisable to intake it through supplements. Vitamin D can be found in egg yolks, salmon, soya milk, cheese, fortified foods.

Eat the right amount of food, get the best of your vitamins & minerals form the food to avoid illness.
