However, it is not ideal and good for our image to sweat or smell bad in public. Here, deodorants come for rescue. They help in temporarily killing the bacteria and also adding fragrance to mask the odor. Antiperspirant deodorants reduce sweat, which prevents the patching of sweat on clothes. So, it is always wise to wear deodorants for our benefit and also not to make others uncomfortable.

There are a lot of deodorants that we could find in the market. But, the chemicals or ingredients used in it may or may not suit our skin. In such cases, natural deodorants that we could make at home can be handier. Here, we can choose the ingredients that best suit our body. Besides, these natural or homemade products have little to no side effects compared to the standard ones.

Below listed are the ingredients, their benefits, and procedures for DIY deodorant.

DIY Deodorant Ingredients

1.Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best ingredients that one could use in making deodorants. It is antibacterial, which keeps the odor, causing bacteria at bay. The oil hydrates the skin, reduces skin burns and brown spots, and even nourishes the damaged skin. It is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, which can help in alleviating inflammation and fighting free radicals.

2. Shea Butter

Shea butter is another excellent antibacterial that can prevent the build of bacteria, which could otherwise cause odor or pimples on the skin. It enhances skin moisture, curbs dryness, and replenishes skin’s nutrients.

Baking soda is widely known for its odor-absorbing properties, making it well-suited as an ingredient in deodorant. It is also popular among the community who use natural deodorant rather than the commercial ones.

4. Lavender oil

Coconut, shea butter, & lavender deodorant

Ingredients:

  • Unrefined coconut oil – 2 1/2 tbsp
  • Unrefined shea butter – 2 1/2 tbsp
  • Baking soda – 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Lavender essential oil – 6 drops
  • Grapefruit essential oil – 6 drops
  • Arrowroot starch – 1/4 cup

How to make it?

  • Take a glass bowl and place it in a medium-sized saucepan.
  • Add coconut oil and shea butter to the glass bowl.
  • Now add some water to the saucepan (a few inches so that it surrounds the bowl) and boil it.
  • While the water is boiling, keep stirring the coconut oil and shea butter so that it melts well and mixes appropriately.
  • Once done, add baking soda, arrowroot starch, and essential oils.
  • Mix it properly and shift it to a glass jar, which is slightly bigger than the volume of the mixture.
  • Cool it at room temperature or in a refrigerator, which then becomes solid.

Your deodorant is now ready to use.

Coconut oil, shea butter, and almond oil deodorant

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
  • Shea butter – 1 1/4 tbsp
  • Almond oil – 2 tsp
  • Beeswax – 10 g
  • Arrowroot powder – 1/4 cup
  • Diatomaceous Earth – 1/4 cup
  • Vitamin E oil – 5 drops
  • Lavender or other essential oil – 20 drops

How to make it?

  • Take a bowl or a jar and a medium-sized saucepan.
  • Add shea butter, beeswax, and oils to the jar.
  • Fill the saucepan with water and place the jar in it.
  • Heat the saucepan with the jar and stir until the ingredients melt and mix properly.
  • Turn off the heat and put the jar aside to cool down.
  • Now add essential oils, vitamin E, and arrowroot, and DE to it and stir it.
  • Pour into another jar for storage.
  • Your deodorant is now ready to use.

Coconut oil and Mango butter deodorant

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil – 1 tbsp
  • Grated mango butter – 1 tbsp
  • Beeswax pellets – 1 tbsp
  • Vitamin E oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Arrowroot powder – 2 tbsp
  • Lemongrass essential oil – 10 drops
  • Tea tree essential oil – 1o drops

How to make it?

  • Take a small bowl of around 4 to 5 ounces and add coconut oil, mango butter, and beeswax to it.
  • Take another medium-sized saucepan and pour some water in it.
  • Now place the bowl with the ingredients in the pan.
  • Heat the saucepan until the ingredients are correctly melted and mixed while slowly stirring the ingredients
  • Add vitamin E oil and arrowroot powder to it.
  • Remove it from the stove and leave it aside for it to cool down.
  • Once done, add essential oils to it.
  • Transfer it to a small box or a container and store it in a cool place.

How to apply?

Scoop out the deodorant with a wooden spoon and apply it under slightly wet underarms.
