How to Eat Guava?

Guava is a very delicious fruit. It can be eaten raw. Also, it is used to make different desserts.

1. Guava Jelly for Diabetes

To make guava jelly, you need;

  • 10 medium-sized ripe guavas
  • 4 cups of water
  • 2 cups of artificial sweetener
  • 5 tablespoons of lemon juice

Procedure

  1. First, wash guavas thoroughly with fresh water and cut them into small pieces.
  2. Put them in the pressure cooker and add 4 cups of water. Cook them on medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Now, cook again for 10 more minutes on low flame. Once done, let it cool down.
  4. After they cool down to the room temperature, mash the guava pieces using a potato masher.
  5. Now, use a strainer to extract the juice from the guavas. Leave the guava mash in the strainer for overnight or at least 6 hours.
  6. Take a measuring cup and see how much juice you have got from the guava mash. You need to take 1 cup of artificial sweetener for 2 cups of guava juice.
  7. Take a saucepan and add juice and sugar along with lemon juice. For each cup of guava juice, you need to add one tablespoon of lemon juice.
  8. Bring this mixture to a boil and keep stirring continuously.
  9. Once you see the bubbles in the mixture, keep the flame on low and cook until the mixture thickens. Ideally, when you drop a spoon of this mixture, it should be a big thick drop.
  10.  It would take around 15-20 minutes to reach this consistency.
  11.  Once you get your desired consistency, switch off the flame, and let the jelly rest for 10 minutes.
  12.  Now, you can pour the jelly in an air-tight container and store it in the refrigerator.

2. Guava Juice for Constipation

To make guava juice, you need;

  • 4 guavas
  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of white sugar

Procedure

  1. First, rinse the guavas thoroughly under tap water.
  2. Now, cut them into small pieces.
  3. After that, add sliced guava, sugar, and water in a blender.
  4. Now, blend it until it becomes soft, as the seed requires time to get blended.
  5. Strain the juice using a filter or strainer.
  6. Now, pour the juice in a glass. You can refrigerate it or add ice cubes as needed.

Guava can often make you feel bloated. You might also experience diarrhea or messed-up digestion problems due to malabsorption of fructose. It could be prone to bacteria(2).
