The yellow discolouration of skin and mucous membrane is called jaundice. Jaundice is also called yellow fever or icterus. Jaundice is a condition which is caused due to high levels of bilirubin in your blood. Bilirubin is the by-product of pigment released due to the breakdown of used red blood cells in your body. Bilirubin is a brownish yellow substance present in your digestive fluid called bile.

Liver plays a major role in filtering bilirubin from the blood stream and releases it in the intestinal tract. Jaundice is caused when the liver is unable to metabolise the bilirubin. Jaundice cure is a viable approach through natural home remedies.

Types of Jaundice

There are three main types of jaundice:

  1. Hepatocellualr jaundice – Jaundice caused due to the liver disease or liver injury is called hepatocellular jaundice.
  2. Haemolytic jaundice – Jaundice which is caused due to haemolysis is called haemolytic jaundice.
  3. Obstructive jaundice – Obstructive jaundice is caused due to the obstruction in the bile duct.

  1. Tomato juice

Lycopene present in tomato helps in reducing the risk of liver injury. Take 4- 5 tomatoes and add it to 500 ml of boiling water. Let it cool for 15 minutes and peel the tomato skin and extract the juice by pressing them on sieve. Add salt and pepper to the juice and drink it early morning on an empty stomach for fast recovery. Tomato is a common natural cure for jaundice.

  1. Radish leaves

The components present in the radish leaves acts as appetite inducers and regularises your bowel movements. Crush handful of radish leaves and extract the juice with the help of muslin cloth or sieve.

The juice helps in detoxifying your blood. Drinking half litre of extracted radish leaf juice regularly helps you in recovering from jaundice in about 10 days. Radish leaves is one amongst the effectual natural cures for jaundice.

  1. Papaya leaves

Prepare a fine paste of papaya leaves and eat half teaspoon of this paste with water. Add one table spoon of honey to one teaspoon of papaya leaves paste. Eat this paste for one to two weeks regularly to cure jaundice.

  1. Basil leaves

Basil leaves helps in promoting the bile production and normal functioning of your liver. Take 7 to 8 basil leaves and crush it to form a fine paste. Mix this paste in 200 ml of water and drink it twice a day for curing jaundice.

10-15 basil leaves are crushed to form paste. Mix this paste with half glass of radish juice. Drink this juice for about one to two weeks as natural home cure for jaundice.

  1. Pigeon peas leaves

Drink 60 ml of pigeon peas leaf juice every day to cure jaundice. Pigeon peas leaf is a simple most used natural cure for jaundice.

  1. Sugarcane

Extract the sugarcane juice and add lime juice to it and drink it twice a day to recover from jaundice. Sugarcane helps in digestion and proper liver functioning as a result aids in jaundice cure.

  1. Gooseberry

Gooseberry is rich in vitamin C and helps in alleviating the symptoms of jaundice. You can eat gooseberry frequently in a day as a cure for jaundice.

  1. Lemon

Lemon has anti-inflammatory property which helps in curing jaundice. Lemon is rich in vitamin C content and helps in preventing many different infectious diseases.

  1. Turmeric

Add a pinch of turmeric to a glass of warm water and drink this water 3-4 times a day to cure jaundice.

  1. Almonds

Take 6-8 kernels of almonds, 2-3 dates and 4-5 cardamoms and soak it overnight in water. In the morning make a paste after removing the skin. Add some sugar and butter to the paste. Eat this mixture several times in a day as a natural cure for jaundice.

  1. Beetroot

Take one cup of beet root juice and mix equal amount of lemon juice to it. Drink this juice regularly for few days for effective results. Beetroot is considered as an effectual natural jaundice cure.

  1. Buttermilk

Prepare a glass of butter milk and add a pinch each of black pepper powder, turmeric powder and cumin seeds. Drink this mixture thrice a day to naturally cure jaundice.

  1. Banana

Take ripe banana and crush it and add honey to it. Eat this paste twice a day for better results. Banana is considered as one of the effectual natural cures for jaundice.

  1. Carrot juice

Include carrot juice in your daily diet to cure jaundice. Drink fresh carrot juice several times a day for fast recovery.

  1. Snake gourd leaves

Take 7-10 snake gourd leaves and boil it in a cup of water and keep it aside for cooling. Take half litre of water and boil 10-15 coriander seeds in it. Mix both liquids and drink it thrice a day as an effective home cure for jaundice.

  1. Indian Aloe vera leaves

Extract the pulp of Indian aloe vera leaves and add black salt and ginger to it. Take this mixture early morning for about ten day to cure jaundice.

  1. Chicory plant

Chicory plant as a whole is beneficial for curing liver problems and eventually acts as a natural cure for jaundice. The roots, flowers and seeds are most commonly used in treatment. The juice chicory helps in curing sluggishness of liver and promotes healthy secretion of bile.

  1. Barley

Take a cup of barley and boil it in 3 litres of water and allow it to simmer for 3 hrs. Drink this liquid frequently throughout the day as a natural cure for jaundice.
