30 Natural Cures for Hypertension

Hypertension is the common term used to denote high blood pressure. When your blood pressure is higher than 140 over 90 mmHg it is considered as the hypertension. Hypertension does not itself cause any visible symptoms, but it can lead to major health diseases in future. There are many factors that can cause hypertension such as unhealthy eating habits and stress.

How to cure hypertension?

High blood pressure or hypertension can be cured naturally with simple home remedies. The common natural cures for hypertension include:

  1. Garlic

Garlic is considered as a natural cure for hypertension. Garlic also has blood thinning properties and also helps in improving the overall cardiac health. It is considered as a natural diuretic.

You can either have a complete raw clove of garlic or keep a slice of garlic in your mouth and try sucking its juice for few minutes. Take a glass of water and add finely mince 1-2 cloves and drink it daily.

  1. Carrots

Carrots are rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene, vitamin A, vitamin C and potassium. Potassium helps in normalizing your blood pressure and positively counteracts the sodium effect. You can drink 2-3 glasses of carrot juice a day without adding salt or sugar to it. Try to use organic carrots for preparing carrot juice.

  1. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are rich in beta- carotene, vitamin E, potassium and antioxidants. Tomatoes are considered as an effectual cure for hypertension. Tomatoes also contain lycopene that has antioxidant properties which helps in lowering the levels of LDL in your body and prevents the fatty deposit build-up in your arteries.

  1. Celery

Celery seeds are widely used in Chinese medicine to lower your blood pressure. Celery is a famous fibrous vegetable that has diuretic property which helps in flushing out excess of water from your body. You can mix celery seeds in your tea or make fresh celery juice and drink it 2-3 times a day.

  1. Pomegranate

Pomegranate is a healthy nutritious fruit that is used as a natural cure for hypertension. Tannins and anthocyanin are the two antioxidants that are present in pomegranate in large amounts. It also contains phytochemicals, flavanoids, punicalagin and polyphenols.

Punicalagin is responsible for lowering LDL levels in your body and raises HDL levels. Punicalagin also helps in lowering your blood pressure and reverses the effects of arterial blockage thus, reduce the risk of atherosclerosis.

  1. Beet root & Radish

Beet root and radishes are rich in nitrates that play a key role in lowering the high blood pressure and improve vasodilation. After ingestion nitrates present in beet root and radish is converted into nitric acid. Nitric acid dilates the blood vessels and regulates blood pressure and reduces the endothelial inflammation and platelet aggregation.

  1. Sesame oil

Sesame is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), vitamin E and sesamin. Sesame oil also contains lignin compounds. Lignans aids in reducing the absorption of cholesterol in your body. The nutrient rich sesame oil is mainly used for hypertension cure.

PUFA in combination with sesamin relaxes your arterial wall and reduces blood pressure. Use 1 ounce of sesame seed or sesame oil in cooking food for around 1-2 months to cure hypertension.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is used as a natural home remedy to cure a wide variety of diseases including hypertension.  Ginger is known to prevent major heart problems by lowering blood pressure and decreasing cholesterol levels in your body.

Ginger also reduces the risk of blood clot formation in your body.  Ginger aids in blood thinning and decreases LDL by preventing plaque build-up on arterial walls. You can either add ginger to fresh smoothies and juices or can use it in cooking curries and other foods.

  1. Coconut water

Take 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder and add raw organic honey to it in a cup of warm water. Drinking this mixture regularly helps in curing hypertension naturally.
