When you feel soreness in the throat, you can use warm water mixed with salt as a natural cure for cough. The salt present in gargling solution helps in draining excess fluid from the inflamed areas in the throat. This helps in curing cough and other throat-related problems.

2. Turmeric for Cough

Turmeric(1) is an ancient home remedy used as a natural cure for cough and common cold. It is beneficial mainly for a dry cough. Boil a half cup of water and add one teaspoon of turmeric powder to it.

To this mixture add one teaspoon of black pepper and cinnamon sticks. Boil this mixture for 2-3 minutes and add one tablespoon of honey to it for taste. Drink this solution daily to cure cough.

You can also drink herbal tea using turmeric powder as a cure for cough.

To prepare herbal tea, take one teaspoon of turmeric powder and one teaspoon of carom seeds to a cup of water. Boil this mixture until the quantity is reduced to half. Add some honey for taste and drink this herbal tea 2-3 times a day as a natural cure for cough.

3. Ginger for cough

It is one of the ancient remedy used to cure cough. Ginger is also used to cure dry cough. Take fresh ginger and cut into small slices and crush them slightly. Put these slices in a cup of water and boil it.

Drink this herbal solution 3-4 times a day to provide relief from sore throat. You can also add some lemon juice and honey to it for quick relief from cough.

Jaggery is one of the common remedy used to cure cough. Sputum buildup generally leads to congestion in your chest and the entire respiratory tract. Removal of sputum provides relief from congestion and cough in most of the cases.

Prepare a decoction by boiling corns of pepper with water for about 15-20 minutes. Add little cumin and jaggery to drink this solution. Take a fresh onion and cut a quarter part of an onion, put some jaggery in the middle of it and chew it to expel sputum and cure cough naturally.

5. Lemon for Cough

It is used to cure many different disease symptoms like cough and cold. Lemon is anti-inflammatory in nature. It is rich in vitamin C content which helps in fighting against infections.  Take 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey and mix it well. Drink this mixture several times a day to cure cough. It is one of the effectual remedy used in curing cough.

6. Garlic for Cough

Garlic(2) is known for its antimicrobial property. It contains certain antibacterial and antimicrobial agents in it. Take 2-3 fresh cloves of garlic and boil in a cup of water. Add a teaspoon of oregano in this mixture. Allow it to cool down to room temperature and add some honey to it. Drink this mixture as an essential cure for cough.

You can also eat crushed garlic clove mixed with clove oil to cure sore throat and cough. Garlic is an effective remedy use to cure throat infections and symptoms associated with it.

Onion is the simplest home remedy for cough. Take the onion and cut it into slices and inhale the strong vapors to cure cough naturally. You can also prepare a cough syrup using onion. You can prepare the cough syrup using baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. Drink this syrup daily till the cough is cured.

Alternatively, you can also mix one-half teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Take this solution at least twice a day to naturally cure cough and soothe your throat.

8. Marshmallow Roots

Marshmallow roots are known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is an effective home cure for dry cough. It helps in protecting mucus membrane tissues and eventually reduce cough naturally.

Take around 3 grams of dried marshmallow leaves and steep it in a cup of hot water for few minutes. Strain the liquid and drink this herbal solution for pain relief. You can also drink 2-3 cups of marshmallow tea to get relief from dry cough.

The main component present in licorice root is glycyrrhizin which is responsible for curing cough. Take 2 tablespoons of dried licorice roots and boil it in 8 ounces of fresh water. Steep it for 10-15 minutes and drink one cup twice daily to cure cough.
